Two drive-in studios. Floor-level access. One location.
Built for automotive photography, large set builds and anything that needs to arrive at ground level.
Malcolm Ryan Studios operates two drive-in studios — Studio A and Studio 1 — both with floor-level vehicle access directly onto the studio floor. No ramps, no lifts, no corridors. Available for daily hire — last-minute bookings welcome.
Studio A — Large-Scale Drive-In Infinity Cove
8,004 sq ft. 30-metre cove. 31ft ceiling. 17ft high drive-in access.
Studio A is our flagship drive-in studio. At 8,004 sq ft with a 30-metre U-shaped infinity cove, 31ft ceiling and 17ft high drive-in clearance, it handles full-size vehicles, large props and oversized set builds. Two floating ceilings, an overhead shooting platform at 31ft and 3 × 400A power supply support multiple high-output lighting rigs simultaneously.
Air conditioned throughout. Suited to automotive campaigns, large-scale commercial shoots and anything requiring serious scale and floor-level vehicle entry. Rate: £2,000 per day.
Studio 1 — Drive-In White Cove with Mezzanine
4,350 sq ft. U-shaped cove. 19ft ceiling. 14ft high drive-in access.
Studio 1 is the natural choice for productions needing drive-in access without the scale of Studio A. At 4,350 sq ft with a U-shaped infinity cove, 19ft ceiling and 14ft high drive-in clearance, it handles standard-height vehicles, commercial vans and mid-size productions.
A motorised truss and mezzanine provide lighting flexibility and an elevated shooting angle without additional equipment. Make-up rooms, wardrobe, production office and crew areas all included. Air conditioned throughout. Rate: £1,500 per day.
What Drive-In Access Actually Means on Shoot Day
Floor-level entry removes a logistics problem before a single frame is shot.
Carrying equipment through corridors, up lifts and across shared spaces adds time, adds risk and adds stress. At Malcolm Ryan Studios, drive-in access means vehicles, props and equipment enter at ground level directly onto the studio floor — nothing more complicated than that.
Studio A's 87ft wide cove allows a full-size vehicle to be positioned within the shooting space with room either side for lighting rigs. Studio 1 provides the same floor-level access at a smaller scale. A car can be driven in, positioned and lit without any lifting, ramps or compromise.
